Kern-Paillard Switar 0,94/26mm
http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250533285335#ht_2240wt_1167

I wish I could afford this for my G1, but I think I am about 1 year to late on buying cine lenses Crying or Very sad

Anyone ever heard of this lens? I did a google on it, and I can't even find mention of a F0.94 anywhere. I think the 26mm's are rarer than the 25mm, and this is reflected in the price. The 26mm f1.1 go for high prices on ebay, usually around $1600, but at least they are listed in catalogs. Is this a lens made for NASA or something? any Kern buffs around?

Klaus,

You mean Schott/Main glass?

I was once told Zeiss (mentioned also on the bolex site). But since Zeiss bought Schott some years ago, we would both be right.

Not quite. Schott Jena was founded and owned by the Zeiss brothers, Abbe and Schott, and was one half of the original Zeiss foundation - Zeiss glass is Schott glass.

I'd be extremely surprised if that is wide angle - in all probability it is a 16mm or 1/2" video lens, with little more than 13mm useful image circle.

I doubt that too, since it was made for 16mm and only very few lenses cover the mft sensor - not even teh 25mm Switar does that w/o vignetting!

I had asked Andrew Alden about it, he maintains the Bolex collector site. Here is his answer: "The f0.94 26mm Switar is relatively uncommon as it was originally designed as a lower price version of the usual 26mm f1.1 so lacked the Macro range - they found that it could be opened up more hence the 0.94 aperture. Problem was it ended up only a few pounds cheaper than the 1.1 and not many were sold. They were not generally included in the Bolex price lists and turn up usually on cameras supplied to Universities and technical institutions."

Out of my price range, but I would love to play around with it a bit on the m4/3 cameras.
