Hi everyone,

So, finally I found back my old Zenit-B, and I would like to know if the using of a Pancolar 50mm is possible with it ?

In fact, I don't know a lot about this old Zenit (Was a gift from my parents when I was very young) I used it sometime...But I can't find the default lens that was given with it. So After some search on M42 lense possibility I though a Pencolar 50mm 1,8 was a good choice of lens for portraits, but maybe I 'm wrong ? (I was thinking to use Illford HP5 as film too)

What do you think about that choice ?
Can you advice me please ?

Anyway Nice to be here with you :p (yeah my first post)

Welcome Titus, why don't you think of Helios? Helios 44 series are cheap or or Helios 40 which is a very good portrait lens for Zenit.

Yes, a M42 Pancolar would be a good lens - the Helios are nice but have out-of-focus effects that, though often very nice, can be distracting difficult to control. So I'd go for the Pancolar over the Helios. Or a Pentax Super Takumar f1.4.

Hello,

Thanks for your comments both Smile
I think, I'll first start with the Pancolar. But I forgot to say, that I'm also looking for a good bokeh on some portrait, so maybe the Helios is a better one as it has a oof effect ?

What do you think ?

Uzay do you have some examples taken with Helios 40 please ?
