Anybody have one of the legendary fast lenses for LF just lying around not being put to good use? I'm looking for something that will cover 4x5 and is faster than f3.5, preferably faster than f2.8. I'm especially interested in the Kodak Aero-Ektar 7in f2.5 (super nice if it comes with a shutter!) or Schneider Xenotar 150mm f2.8. I'm not loaded so the price must not be legendary Very Happy

4x5 is good, but I'd like there to be room for movements. I'll be using it on a Speed Graphic Smile

Fast as in "large aperture" or as in "high effective speed"? Even recently bleached Aero Ektars aren't very transparent, and effectively have no speed advantage over a coated 3.5 Tessar type.

Well, Aero Ektar then, as the Xenotar 2.8/150 does not cover much beyond 4x5" when fully open.

Just checked: I have a large STEINHEIL Jos-Pe-Cassar 3/18cm (180mm) here which was once made for that famous color separation camera. Fast enough?

Large aperture, since I'm mainly interested in using it wide open for shallow DoF. And thanks, good to know that about the Xenotar!!

Ah, I did a bit of looking around and I guess the Cassar's coverage is smaller than 4x5:

So I guess the Aero Ektar is really the only choice I have!
