Personally I like the m39 Helios 44, but I had good results from the 44-2, 44-3 and 44k-4, so pay your money and take your choice, they can all be got relatively cheaply and all worth a go.  |

My copy of the 44M-7 lost the particular bokeh of the 44-3. It 's more similar to the "normals" 50 mm, and in this league my takumar, pancolar, hexanon and pentacon beat it.
The 44-3 is a different lens. Similar to the 44-2 but it's MC. Nice image with particular bokeh (as you know).
If you have a good 50/58 mm, perhaps the 44-2 or MC 44-3 can be the option.

rbelyell- cant help with the Biotar I never used one, but would recommend the 44-3 as a lens with character, or try a 44-2 they are much cheaper and easier to find and are similar in type. |
