I sold an old tlr on ebay several weeks ago. Despite the focus being smooth, I had not noticed that the lens board came out unevenly. Because of my mistake I accept that the right thing to do is to pay, in addition to the full refund amount, the return shipping.

I shipped the camera originally for $18. The person sent it back for $32. I made a mistake, but really?

The person in EVERY correspondence has ended with a remark indicating that they intend to hurt my feedback if I do not comply. Not in any way that violates ebay rules (which would be asking for more than what they were entitled to) but it certainly is the metaphorical middle finger. They know I have zero recourse in the matter.

I will pay the person the full amount and be done with it, I just needed to rant a little. Sorry.

This is why I don't sell on ebay any more, I buy only. It used to be rare you were "done over", but it's common enough now that I won't sell anything. I can see many a scenario that I would end up without the money *or* the item.

I sell things on Fora that are focused on that genre, and if it doesn't sell, I'll keep it.

+1 Fleabay has become a last resort as far as selling goes. I'd much rather sell stuff for much less money on the forums than risk some scumbag ripping me off. I have noticed in the last couple of years that fleabay has become particularly bad. Up to about three years ago it was fine.

Sounds like a one-off bad experience to me. I've sold a couple of hundred bits and bobs over the past two years and never had any problems at all.
