In yesteday parcel's there were also some rubber cups to disassemble lenses. This one is the "small lenses" kit, useful for my rangefinders and the narrower lenses.
The kit contains four dual cups, each one can manage two lens widths. In my set they were 48/46, 44/42, 40/38 and 38/36.
There were also two suction pads that have shown unvaluable to manage the individual lenses.
This is the kit box:
So let's try to open the top of my Weltblick 135mm lens (really an OEM Tamron in disguise), to blow some dust particles that are inside. I didn't try it before, because I was afraid to scratch the topside with the wrench.
First step, select the proper cup and size, this time was 44mm. It fits inside the lens cylinder but doesn't touch the glass!.
Firmly pressing on top with the hand and turning left, loosened the retaining ring for this lens:
Once the ring out, the suction pad enters into action:
Now I can access to the fist space inside the lens to clean it up.
Finally, the way back:
As a summary: Very interesting and useful tool, no risk of scratching the lenses. I'm going to order the kit for bigger lenses...
Kind regards.

Luis,
Not sure you can do a strong traction with the suction pads. To me are very useful to avoid turning down the lens. Sometimes there are shims or other elements that can fall down and you can lose perspective of where they were placed. In this way you extract the glass only and you can see what's inside without disturbing the setup.
Kind regards,

I think I would need the 3 set and the 9 set... ¿What about pricing and shipping costs?.

that sure would come in handy, especially for the inner elements...
What I've done is just turning it around, almost lost sight of which element was which... Good thing I had a schematic.
Where can we get these suction thingies? |

How do you like that 135mm Weltblick (Tamron?) lens? It seems very similar to Vivitar 1.8/85mm classic. It might be that Weltblick (Tamron?) did both of them. I haven't seen such strange aparture blades positioning anywhere else. |
