A while back when I got this Minolta Rokkor-X 45mm f2 , I discovered fungus in the lens. I decided to clean it but I shattered one of the glass in the front element group. Thus, I looking out in the bay for one for parts. I am in luck after 2 weeks, I got one. It arrived today and I quickly start the Operation Transplant.
The one on the left awaits for transplant while the right is the donor.
The donor got broken aperture ring.
Mine had the orange Rokkor-X words while the donor had the white words.
1st ring to be removed. The identity ring.
After the identity ring removed. You could see 6 screws. 3 screws holding the " hood " ring while the other 3 screws holds the whole front elements group. The " hood " ring (seen beside the lens, looking as if got pair of cat ears ) had to be removed first before the front elements group could be removed.
The damaged front elements group. Shattered glass had earlier removed.
The damaged and the proper good set.
After the front elements group had swap, it was reassembled. Next one to swap is rear elements group. It is also hold by 3 screws.
Operation Transplant completed !
Test shot. Flare from my lamp.
