Today I bought this lens with a Fujica ST 801 is anybody know it ? Perhaps same than Yashica 21mm f3.5 ML ?

I saw in shop a Fujica ST 901 with kit lens if anybody interest let me know.


I once had a M42 Yashica DS 20/3.3 in mint condition. Corner performance is really poor on a 5D, on a Oly it should be acceptable, but not more. Hopefully your Chinon is another lens...

The good news, there are so many Tomioka-Fans out there, the lens was sold immediately Rolling Eyes

These lenses are very likely different... Both focal lenght and aperture differs, so I expect different optical formula.

The Yashinon 20/3.3 is very complicated retro-focus lens: 11 elements in 9 groups (flek 25/4 is 7/6, flek 20/2.8 is 9/8…) - I think that the number of elements is kind a overkill for that time, when wide angle retro-focal lenses were something completely new and their optical designers didn't have enough experience to deal with it.

Anyway, did anybody tried Yashinon 21/3.3? It's biogon-like non-retrofocal lens, which protrudes deeply into the camera body. Because of that it can be used only with the mirror on flip-up position, while the object is viewed via separated viewfinder.

I'd like to see some images taken by this lens, it should be possible to use live-view on digital cameras instead of the viewfinder. I'd expect better image quality, than with the retrofocal 20/3.3.

The focus ring looks different indeed, and the pictures in the gallery posted by themoleman (thanks!) showing kind of yellowing of the lenses. I assume, the Chinon is a thoriated version. The lenses housing itself looks very much like my DS.

So let we see I expect pretty good performer , but less good than CZJ lenses.
