..hello..long time reader, seldom poster here..
..i need some advice from the specialists here..
..i bought a nice canon 35 1.5 rangefinder lens that is in good working order but hase some very small areas of coating deterioration on the outer side of the front lens..it does not have any effects on the pictures taken with it but as the rason for the deterioration could be some former fungus (there is no fungus at all now) i think about what to do..

..questions: is it advisable to do some proper cleaning with alcohol or something like that or would this destroy the coating..?
..is it advisable to renew the coating..is there someone in europe who does this at an affordable rate..?
..or should i just leave it in uv light to be sure and live with the small coating defects..?

..thx for any advice..erik..

welcome Eric,
I don't think small imperfection do any harm.
You can keep the lens without fungus development in dry storage, but best is to use it often.

I have several fungus lenses waiting to be cleaned, and still use them.
Regarding small scratches, 99% of the cases, it is not affect image quality.
It is however a bit annoying to look at the lens with imperfection.

You may get more flare then normal is about the only result you will see,
Alcohol should be safe to use.
Some UV wouldn't hurt just to be sure.
There are places that re-coat lenses, you would have to do a search.

I'm curious what you have for Canon RF gear, here's mine.

Coating defects usually dont show up in pictures. Dont worry.

I like mine on the NEX-7. High speed and tiny! Very Happy
