I do believe this is the better version of a Vivitar 135mm, but still, pricey no?

I've seen better lenses go for less, heck, I've seen this lens go for much less.

Lucky, or?

I have this lens and it is frankly one of the best portrait lenses in my view. Does a very fine job and the CF capability to 0.6m is very useful. Sample portrait:

Its a fine lens, but would you pay £100 to get it?
A Tak or MGO or CZJ are cheaper and certainly very good.

I do find the ~1.5m on the Taks a bit long, but still I recently got a Super-Tak and a CZJ 135mm and theses lenses are very good (the zeiss is even scratched, not that its noticeable).

I've now got 5 or 6 135mm lenses I'm trying out, not all will make the cut, but the ones that do will be the best.
I refuse to pay £100 for a MF 135mm of the kind I have or intend to buy. There are AF and special lenses I could consider spending more, if I had the money.

Just wanted to put a caveat here. I do agree that if one has a lens which is a staple of one's photography, then surely you would understandably value it above market values.

It is a great lens, especially with the close focus ability. But a hundred pounds? I wonder if I should keep mine?

I've got that Komine made Vivitar lens in Nikon mount & love it (it goes to 1/2 life size)...I'm expecting the 90mm F2.8 Komine made Vivitar version that goes to life size to be delivered tomorrow (cost $33 USD plus $12 shipping)...I've seen the 135 go for as much as $210 USD although I wouldn't pay that much for it...

Personally I would never pay that much for this lens, but clearly there are people around who value it at that level. I was merely pointing out that this is in fact a very good lens.

Click here to see on Ebay

Yeah, but how bout this one? This is just the typical non "close focus" one. I refused to put mine on ebay, even if I don't use it, because they usually don't even get bid at $10. Wonder why this one is special?

Looking at the bidding history, it looks as though a couple of people (& eBay newbies at that) that wanted the lens, just got in a "bidding war" , thus it wound up going for much more than it's worth

Actually the CF version is one of the Viv Ser1 legends. Its quality is very high. I think mine can rival my nikkor and is definitely better than the Yashica DSB. Read this well known article on this forum:
