I've been meaning to try out one of these for ages and ages, so decided to have a go when I saw one advertised at a dealers a couple of weeks ago for a reasonable £89. Worth it if it turns out to be a useful tool rather than a toy.Smile

So far I'm not dissapointed, but it is capable of some very odd bokeh.

Here wide open with no soft dialled in... (there is a setting of 0-3 on the ring)

And turned to number three...

Same again with three still on the softness...

Stop down to 5.6 and...

But of course it can be smooth. f2.8 at the 150 setting with no softness..

And with three on the softness...

Pull back the zoom to 70 and do the same...

And out to 150...

I think I'm going to like it. I'll post some more of it in use later.

Nice! I very much like the effects you've got in these pics. I don't recall actually seeing one of these in a shop, and I guess relatively few were sold - certainly in the UK. I want one!

I've been looking for one on efray for quite some time.

The few times they crop up they're well beyond my budget. You got a bargain there.

Looks like a fun lens with some nifty applications.

I haven't seen one. Although - the other day I shoehorned the Tamron extension tube (the one for the 90/2.5 macro) onto a 103a - not a perfect fit as the max aperture feeler on the tube is fixed at 2.5. Playing with the zoom was interesting, you can focus by either focusing or zooming, and there were some interesting softness effects to be had as well.

But your lens looks like even more fun. Thanks for the presentation.

Andy and 'khanX' I'm sorry, I should have said it was a 70-150 f2.8. Nesster thanks for showing the link.

The lens came from Mifsuds in UK. I've picked up several lenses over the past few months from dealers at good prices compared to ebay, more in line with what they're worth I think. You also get try them out on approval and have a guarantee thrown in.

Interesting - the portraits make it look as though it should come with choirs of heavenly angels!

That boke is wild

Not really my taste for a soft focus lens to be honest - and that bokeh???
