I must say that I have been watching this forum for quite some time and have learned alot about manual focus lenses which I enjoy using very much. You have all been very helpful.

I just purchased a Kiron 28-105 lens for a very low price of $10. It is in excellent condition other than it has a very small patch of fungus between the first and second element that I would like to remove. It looks like the fungus should come off pretty easy and does not look like it has etched into the glass. It is on the inside edge of the glass of the second element. Taking this lens group out of the body was pretty easy since it just unscrews, however I cannot separate the two lenses from each other. They look like they just unscrew (from the first element) but I cannot get enough grip on either to do this. They also look to have some sort of glue in the threads holding the outside element on. Is there a way to heat the lens and glue or soak it in something to soften it? If they do just unscrew then I thought about making a couple of clamps to grip each lens giving me a larger grip area to grab a hold of. If I mess the lens up I am not really out anything but I would like to save this lens and use it for it looks to be a good one to have in my bag. Anyone have any suggestions or experience on separating these two lens elements?

Once I get them apart and begin the process of putting them back together do the threads need to be sealed, and if so with what?

Sorry for the long post and thank you for all the helpful information.
Stuart
