Finally having found time for shooting some pics, I thought to myself, well, what could be a more appropriate start into the photo season with a japanese lens but to shoot some cherry blossoms?
(excuse my lack of creativity Laughing)

So here you are - Nikkor 105/2.5 AIs, all fully open

And I kind of like this one for the colours...

Nice shots indeed - but these are Apple, not Cherry blossoms

har har, why should it be, still wonderful spring shots using a wonderful lens! Building a "flower-bridge" between Japan and Germany....german flowers - japanese lens technology!!

My lens collector friend Michio Akiyama would love that...

...I helped a bit with one of my lenses.

This is one fantastic lens, every time I use it I hit myself in the head for not using it more.

This lens has a very smooth bokeh and still a good rendition, seems a good lens for a lot of uses...i was wondering, what does means it has AI-S mount? Is it any different from the "P" version of the same Nikon bayonet?

Its not actually the mount which is different (the Nikon lenses for SLR are all Nikon "F" mount). The difference is how the aperture information is communicated to the camera. The original method, used by the Nikkor-P 105mm f/2.5 and also the Nikkor-P.C, is an aperture sensing prong which fits into the "rabbit ears" on the lens. The next method was AI, Aperture Indexing, where a ridge on the back of the aperture ring is read. Same for AIS except those lenses can also use Shutter priority as well as Aperture priority. lastly the CPU lenses (mostly autofocus) convey the aperture information electronically.

Also, the earlier Nikkor-P (the ones with a silver nose) use a different optical formula to the later Nikkor-P (the ones with black nose). That later formula is also used by Nikkor-P.C, AI, and AIS versions. However, there were several coating improvements along the way too.
