There is an interesting page with lense tests for AF and MF Nikkors for cameras with a full-frame sensor. It is in French, but I guess the charts can be understood easily:

http://www.pictchallenge-archives.net/TESTNUM/D3_optiques.html

He tested the centre, the bords (borders) and the angles (corners). In the charts he rates the performance of the lenses at various f stops (centre and borders) with stars. The MF 135mm Ai seems to be very good. I wonder, if prices on eBay will go up, after many people read this.

Awesome link, I'm going to buy that book!

Thank you very much for posting. Yes, while it might raise aftermarket value of some lenses just a quick glimpse reveals which ones are overhyped for FX users... I'm going to shut up here in order not to raise similar "discussions" as seen on other forums when someone hits the Achillee's heel Very Happy

I purchased the PDF book and am right now browsing it, I can thoroughly recommend it. A wealth of knowledge for the Nikkor enthusiast, not to mention this is awesome for me as I can catch up on my almost forgotten language skills Very Happy

Thank you, this saved my http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walpurgis_Night!

Actually the 50mm 1.8 E series surprised me. It looks like it performed well on the full frame. Smile

With the exception of the 1 star rating wide open on the borders, it performs almost as well as the 1.8 Ai-s.

I think one's own experience in the end is all that matters. If I'm happy or content with the performance of a lense is not influenced by someone doing tests, no matter how good and accurate they may be. But this extensive comparison sure helps, when you are about to spend a lot of money on lenses that - for some reason or other - are very highly priced.
