....despite all negative opinions and comments on mirror lenses I'm absolutely fascinated by my Sigma Mirror - to support this I like to post a recent sample....free-hand shot and no digital improvement - jpg but "raw".....the original picture and four 100%+ crops, just cut-out and combined with "Photoscape" - which I by the way find the most impressing photo-freeware I ever used.....

YES! Looks really good I did expect lot more worst result from a Sigma extreme lens.

Does this lens have the usual donut bokeh of a mirror lens ? I am assuming yes.

....yes there is - but it's much less obvious ...or annoying... than I expected - here are some samples with "bokeh-background", as you can see, the "rings" are very small and sometimes even hardly to be recognized as "rings".....I also have a Russian 8,0/500, with which I find it much worse

The Sigma is indeed a nice little big mirror.

Last year i found a M42-version at a rather ridiculous price and the performance appeared to be pretty good. The only thing about all mirrors is the lack of mass which nowadays can be managed by using a stabilized camera.
The great surprisefactor with mirrorlenses are their closefocussing-abilities.

With the KM Dynax 5D

Thanks for the follow up, I have one of the cheap store branded 500mm mirrors and the background always has thousands of distracting rings or donuts.

These donuts are typical for any catadioptric system, you can either avoid them ore live with them.

From this afternoon with the Sigma 600mm
