I found an Auto Rokkor-PF 55 mm 2.0 today, but I'm having some difficulty getting information about it on the web. About 3/4 of the way down this webpage (http://minolta.rokkor.de/normallenses.htm) there is a bit of info, but it's mostly history.
The lens won't stop down when you turn the aperture ring (which you have to push a little button to do).

I'm trying to figure out what mount it is and if there is an adapter for mounting it on a Canon or Nikon digital body. I've heard of Rokkor f/1.2's being adapted, but I really don't know much of anything about this lens.

Welcome!

This lens is adaptable to EOS with mount conversion , not adaptable for Nikon and adapter available for Olympus E-1 perhaps for E-3 too. For other 4/3 cameras may be need to cut aperture lever or modify camera body.

That lens has a Minolta mount compatible with Minolta manual focus SLRs which take MC & MD lenses (etc). Auto Rokkor lenses are earlier than MC & MD lenses, and in many cases, are only single coated rather than multi coated.

It will fit any 4/3 mount camera by Olympus or Panasonic, via a Minolta MC/MD -> 4/3 adapter. To make the best interface, you need to file off about 1mm of the aperture follower lever. This JUST touches the plastic on most 4/3 cameras, and taking this much off will not affect how the lens works with a Minolta SLR.

The only adapter I can find seems to have glass in it and be of the AF-confirm type. I'm looking to put this on my 30D, is this the sort of adapter you're speaking of? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&Item=270375215528&Category=30059&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26its%3DI%26otn%3D1

This for Canon and it is degrade lens quality don't take it. We did talk about for OLYMPUS and Panasonic. For Canon need permanent lens mount conversion I suggest to not do it buy a right much instead and left this pure lens to right camera owner.

It's an early 6 element lens (F indicates number of elements G =8 elements etc.).
I think you should not trouble yourself for this one.
The 1.4/58 and 1.2/58 are in a different league and are worthy the trouble to adapt.

BTW welcome aboard Cool

Alright, I'll leave this one alone. If I am to try to sell it, how much do you think it is worth?

As I mentioned before, Auto Rokkor lenses are older, single coated lenses by Minolta. The MC & MD lenses are far superior, both optically, and because of the multicoating.

For example, there are Auto Rokkor 58mm F1.4, and MC Rokkor 58mm F1.4

The MC is far superior not just because it is F1.4
