Today me and my family we decided to make our daughter very happy and for the first time (she is just 20 months old) we took her to local playground. Total fun.

But during the photographing my wife dropped the lens cover to the sand and it is full of dust and sand and I tried to blow it with air, but it is not enough.

Do You have any trick for it how to remove/wash it?

I wash mine in the kitchen sink with dish liquid and a toothbrush Smile

same here, water first (hot because it dries faster)- if more is needed I pull out an old brush

Ok and what to do if the front cap has a spring mechanism holding the cap on the front of the lens - e.g. the modern nikkors has. I think to wash it with water will make ideal condition for corrosion spreading and later disfunction.

You will need to put it in a warm place after, best for a few days at least.

Rinse it off in hot water, dry it in a warm place. Compressed air can normally get the water out of where the metal springs hide, and even dry everything completely.

If the springs rust, just replace the cap. After all, they're cheap. Wink

Throw it away and buy another if it won't clean easily.
