From today using Canon 5D.

Carl Zeiss Pancolar 50mm


Carl Zeiss Triotar 135mm


Tamron SP 17mm

It's impressive how the triotar is still one of the lens with the more pronunced 3d effect I ever used. And it's just a triplet!

Perhaps only six air-glas surfaces improve contrast (micro and macro)?

But if it's true good bye planars?

In theory a triplet lens must have poor borders and good centers, but almost all the pics in the forum taken with a triplet lens, are a real beauties.

I think the reason is in the zero CA of the optical design. All colors are precisely focused in the same point and because of that the results looks very natural to the eye. Next reason can be naturally looking bokeh.
