Hi Every one. I know this isn't a great first post. I have been a lurker for some time now. I need the Expertise of some very knowledgeable people.

i recently walked in a thrift shop and found a mint zoom lens. i couldn't pass it up for the price.

only problem i am having there are no visible marking on it. it looks like a Tamron but not tagged.

takes a 62 mm filter
along the filter ring it is marked auto image mc zoom 1:4 -5.5 f 35- 210mm
serial #8603543

also is this s C/Y mount camera?

it has a made in japan tag on it.

Any help will be extremely appreciated

Don't expect much.. cheap Japanese super zoom , they are acceptable in normal and tele-range , but I don't think so wide part is acceptable.

MINT means nobody used before on cheap lenses means Image quality is low.

Not Tamron that is pretty sure.

Make some test images and let we see, perhaps you found an nice lens, sometimes happen.

Yeah, it will probably be a lemon. The mount looks like C/Y i can't see it totally clear in your photo but i'd say 99% sure C/Y, the shape, the red dot and the levers all seem in the right place for C/Y.

It was also branded as Makinon I think, who made their own - not very good - sort of thing you got in Dixons in the 80's. But who knows - it my surprise you!

Have a look at this about Makinon on photo - net
