Which 35-70 zoom is it that you have? The 67mm or 72mm filter size version?....I have the 72mm version & it's an excellent lense except for some flare problems...Just gotta love those constant aperture zooms,..

Hi Scott,
Thanks for taking a look. My 35-70 is pictured below.

The 100 E is a well known anomaly in the "economy" line - nikon would not use the nikkor label on them. But the 100 is far better than it has any right to be for the price. A lens allegedly copied from the 100E is the russian Kaleinar 100/2.8, which has a very similar quality but with slightly more intense colours. The 35-70 was similarly the "amateur" version of the incredible 35-70/2.8, but a terrific lens in its own right. Nice examples

Hi Patrickh,
Yes, the 100mm is quite the nice econmy lens. Very Happy My 35-70 isnt a bad lens either. I never hear this lens mentioned on the boards. Sad

My 35-70 is the F3.5 fixed aperture version, not the variable aperture one...

Hi Scott,
As you can see mine is the 3.5 - 4.8 version. The lens is all plastic and extremely light. This lens is not the greatest Nikon ever made, but it surprises me at times and I find I like it.

This lens is a COSINA made lens sold as kit with the FE10 & FM10 bodies which were manufactured by cosina (as was the Canon T60 , Olympus OM2000...)

The lens is know as average quality and you pictures confirm it

Thanks for the info.

But actually my 35-70 seems to perform better tham my 50mm Rikenon, and I beleive the samples show that also. The 35-70 is a bit sharper and has better color saturation.

In any case, as I stated, it's not the best lens but I like mine.

Actually, I like most of my glass with the exception of an Albinar I may sell. I like seeing the different characteristics of each lens maker.

NEXT UP: Nikon 35-105 3.5/4.5 Very Happy

Actually the 100E has been the subject of discussion before in this forum, but it never hurts to be reminded of little gems like this. Here is a sample from the Kaleinar:

Hi patrickh,
Yes the 100mm has been mentioned before. I know I have brought it up in the past.

I just dont see too many people posting images from this lens.
