These were shot at a distance of between 30 and 60 feet. A dark overcast day didn't help the details. Most were shot at f/3.5 and f/5.6 using a Sigma APO 1.4X teleconverter. The cropped photos are accompanied by the full size one.

That's some pretty good shootin' there, Dawg. I see some purple fringing in the out of focus areas but it seems quite good overall. The conditions you describe make for a less than ideal test.

I have that lens in K mount. It is a small and very decent 200mm prime made by Komine with serial #28. I would like to have the M42 version so that I can use in Av mode in Pentax K20D.

Vivitar/Komine 200mm f/3.5 + F-1.7x AF TC

My K mount can be used with Pentax F-1.7x AF TC and that TC will turn my K mount into almost like a AF lens. At close range to focus, the TC takes over and adjust the AF for the manual lens
