What are some good 400mm lens which you have used and would recommend? I would most likely be using it for birding. Or so I be looking at 500mm?

400mm Sigma APO f5.6 light weight , cheap , short and makes good pictures.

400mm SIGMA MC f5.6 CRAP!!

Novoflex 40cm, 400mm f5.6 Long , un-screw to parts, light weight , very fast focusing .

Konica Hexanon 400mm f4.5 very rare , heavy but fast.

Any top maker for $$$

Tamron SP 350mm f5.6 (super sharp, small ) mirror lens.

Russian MTO 500mm f6.3 mirror lens.
