Kalimar 500 f8 refracting lens

There is someone locally (to me) that is selling some k-mount lenses, including a Kalimar 500mm (f8?) Telephoto refractor (not the reftlex) for around US$40.

Is this lens wothwhile, and/or is that a reasonalble price? I purchased a used Tokina RMC 400/5.6 for $75 a year or so ago, and am pretty pleased with its performance (although I do get some noticeable PF when wide open or with high contrast). Is this Kalimar with its extra 100mm desirable? Or am I better off using a 2X converter with my zooms that'll get me to 600mm or 800mm with the Tokina?

Anyone have or use the Kalimar 500 refractor?
