hi,

new to the forum and my first post. Smile

i use a k10d and i have just bought myself my first m42 screwmount lens: the jupiter-11a 4/135. the lens database here says that it's filter diameter is 40mm. so if i want to use a hood with this lens, should i be looking for a 40mm screw-in hood?

am yet to actually shoot with the lens because i am (still) looking for a genuine pentax m42 adapter.

TIA, regards, subash

First version of Jupiter ("alu" - or black) is not 40 mm but exactly 40,5mm, like Jupiter-8 (zorki), , industar-23 (fed) , old Contax lenses .... Jupiter-11A is 52mm x 0,75 , very common dimension. The original sunshade is very long (60mm, 2 3/8") and efficient ! Very Happy

The super dinarex 135/4 for the voigtlander bessamatic/ultramatic, had 40,5 mm filter as the normal color skopar 50/2,8

The used the same hood with external snap on (very tight). It's OK too.

Rino.

Have you a front cap 40,5 mm? The plastic cap of the film box is OK .

Rino.

thanks for your replies. it's a relief if its filter thread is 52mm because the mflenses link below says it is 40mm:

thanks, subash

hi John,

thanks for the clarification and the pictures. that's certainly helpful. it shouldn't be too much of a problem getting something like that with 52mm thread.

thanks, subash
