I took my Spotmatic out this eveniong and the meter switch started to stick in the up position leaving the meter on. It was fine when I took it out a couple of weeks back.

I need to get it repaired when I finish the roll of film. Is there anyone from here that's UK based that does the repairs or can you recommend anyone?

There is an ebay shop that advertises the repair. Anyone any experience with Alchemic Photography?

It's the better of my Spotmatics and want to keep it in good shape.

Thanks

Martin, I could do it for you if you like, but it's quite a simple job you could do yourself. It involves lifting the front leathers and removing the lens mount plate (5 screws) to get to the parts that need lubricating. Apart from watching out for the tiny shim washers under the plate and making sure they go back in the same place, there's nothing complicated about it at all.

An even better idea though, is to send it to Mike Spencer at Clay Cross for a complete CLA. I can't recommend him too highly. The most common problem I've found with old Spotties is slow shutter speeds and he has all the experience and test equipment to get this perfect once again.

I don't know Alchemic at all, but the picture they use on their Ebay ads comes from a completely different source, which casts some doubt about them in my eyes.
