I've been looking for one of these for a while now, and it was delivered today, along with a bucket load of snow! Very Happy

So here it is, a Carl Zeiss Jena Sonnar, almost mint for £10.50 Smile

Here's a few shots taken today (the weather was horrific and I had an "interesting" drive to the park! Surprised I just absolutely LOVE the bokeh this thing produces!! It's so creamy you could almost eat it with your pie.

Shooting snow was very difficult in the poor conditions for an amateur like me, so any tips would be much appreciated! I left Adobe's default RAW sharpening on, as I was a bit shakey shakey out in the field Very Happy

Snowman Smile

Branch with girlfriend about 5 metres behind (I love the bokeh!!)

Orange thingys

Bigger branches!

Orange arty thingy

Log in front of orange arty thingy Laughing Look at that creamy bokeh...

Not as good as Luis Algeria's, but...

The Bird

Nice shots and a bargain at £10.50. The "orange thingys" are a Hamamelis (Witch Hazel) of some kind.

I can't understand how you can get such good bargains. Didn't you get the Flek very cheaply as well?
Last Sonnar I saw on Swedish ebay went for about 100 USD.

Nice shots as well.

Absolutely excellent lens Very Happy. I have it, even if I didn't got them for that price (50 GBP), and it's quality is excellent Very Happy.

These are lovely first shots from your bargain lens - they've made me want to go out into the snow here with mine...except it's nearly 19:00, quite dark and very cold out there Laughing

Thanks for the kind words chaps Smile Ooh and the witch hazel detail Laughing

This lens was from a dealer...like the Flek...and was offered via email (he'd literally just aquired it) as a replacement for the Pentacon 135 I was after (which he'd just sold).

I'm absolutely stunned by it! Great fun! Very Happy

Brilliant lens, absolutely superb. I just got a zebra version from Oliver on here, and it's stunning. I am taking it out with no other lenses at the weekend for a really thorough play Cool

The only problem with photographing snow is exposure but it is easy with a modern camera. If you don’t already shoot with spot metering switch over and meter off a neutural tone and lock exposure. If you allow the camera to ‘Evaluate’ the exposure it will over underexpose by up to two stops, a disaster for your quality and especially the dynamic range, any degree of underexposure will kill digital DR.
If your in a total white out and can’t find a nautural object use your hand ( A very good 18% grey card substitute) for the reading.

Nice shots. Looks like you had more snow there than I did.

Yep, if sou shoot a snowy scene, overexpose!
The meter is tricked by the large amounts of "white". Wink

Nice shots and what a great bargain! Congrats!

How can you get such amazing deals!? You're good.

Mine should arrive this week. Bought it from GrahamNR17. Can't wait to try it out.

Ahhh, I had it on multi-segment! Lesson learnt there then, thanks! I was generally switching between overexposing by 1.3 steps to about 0.5 steps. That's a great tip about using your hand as well. Great stuff. Although you can bet your bottom dollar we won't get snow here for another 10 years now Laughing

The snow should be a zona 7/7,5 (slide) 7/8 (negative). Spot to the snow will give zona 5. Open 2, 2,5 or 3 apertures.

Do you use incident meter? Well, use the aperture that give the meter, without change it.

Use new doit it all cameras? Well, point and shot. Laughing
No, it was only a joke.
But it is pretty to have the total control of the image that we obtain and to know why, isn't it?

Yesterday I left one CZJ 3.5/135 pass me by, the price is around 8-9 GBP when it closed.
Sadly it not shipped worldwide, so I have to watch it gone.

Not very regret of it, I already have 2, but none of them come to me at this price Laughing

The picture of the bird should be added to the '3D' thread as it is startling how the branch upon which it sits stands out from BOTH foreground and background?

Well done, nice pics and great buy! Smile Smile
