Hi Folks!

MF has infected me.............

On thursday my Pentacon 2.8/135mm arrived and today the 4/200. Both can be seen here:

Unfortunately I could only take the 2.8/135 out tonight (i went by bicycle and had to carry tripod as well......)
Unfortunately late night is not the best time to gather pics showing the awesome bokeh.
Nevertheless I tried:
freehand with ISO 1600 so please excuse the noise. The background blur let's the lanterns melt away very softly.

bokeh gradient can be seen in this picture very nice. I was also impressed by the sharpness!! ISO 100 from tripod and with Live View focused

And two more showing the nice round shapes produced by OOF light sources Smile

I hope to be able to contribute now and can get a member of the MF family Embarassed
It is incredible how such manual lenses change the POV. I found myself automatically trying to compose (although not very well implemented, but the motives were rare). It is just another way of looking through the viewfinder with such lenses attached.

Thx for your advices up to now, I will need a lot more of them to get deeper into MF........
Greetz Sebastian

Congrats for these nice pieces! 135mm one of the most respected variant from this lens. 200mm also a great lens.

Nice pictures - and obviously well thought out.

Hey, these two lenses are real starters! They are typical lenses that trigger a bad addiction! Welcome to the club! Wink

Lovely bokeh examples Sebastian, and the lenses and cases look superb. You worked out how to use the preset OK then! Smile Are you in Vienna?

PostPosted: Sat Nov 15, 2008 10:12 pm    Post subject: Reply with quote

Yep, Vienna I live in.

I hoped for more christmas lights but the christmas markets with the hot wine and the "Punsch" start not before next weekend I guess.

Anyway upcoming week I will find time to walk around with the two beauties Smile

Thx! In general I'm not really satisfied with the "wuestenrot" lettering in the background but it was not easy to find the right perspective with having the christmas ligh in the background especiall with this lens (equal to 216mm on my crop cam)

Over the x-mas holidays I hope to be able to gahter daylight shots which better show th lovely bokeh Smile

Merry X-mas

Thank you! Velvia is wonderful when there are rich blue, green or reds around Smile

Some more from same roll of Velvia 100F, still same Pentacon lens

Female model was very cooperative at this time (sunset) but aggressive male companion and cold weather increased focusing difficulties Razz (1 sharp and 1 almost focused out of 7 exposures)

There's no excuse not to own a Pentacon 135/2.8 as far as I'm concerned!! It's my favourite lens Smile These were from the first batch of piccies taken outdoors with my Sony a200 and Pentacon 135, back at the beginning of December...

Lamp (from the top of an open tour bus!)

100% crop

Lion...

100% crop

Elephunk!

Hi Sebastian,

which dslr did you use?

I have this 135 MC too and found it to be a VERY good lens on my Pentax DS but with other dslr like K20D or E-1 trhe results differed...
This is a well known effect- lenses that perform very good up to a 10 MP aps-dslr and do not on the 14/15-MP-aps-dslr ...

Smile Paul
(have a look for the russian 2.0/85....!)

HI Paul!

I used it on an EOS 40D which is 10 MP. In fact it might be that 15 MP cams like the 50D do challenge the resolution the optics can deliver. but it has been shown already that the 50D demands highest performance primes to deliver the resolution the sensor provides! For me the MP race is over. Unfortunately Canon seems to think different if you take 50D and 5D MKII Evil or Very Mad I would rather prefer mre dynamic range and tonal range than MP's........

I love your shots! I cannot wait anymore to get the Pentacon... arghhh! (it's coming from the UK, I hope that in only a few days more I'll have it in my hands!)

Hehe! On you 5D it will perform even better and be a great Porträt Lens with slightly better bokeh due to the full-format sensor!!
