Generally slow zooms are not good, Sigma is one of the crappiest brand in old lenses. I think this lens will be a good door stop or hang grenade nothing else.

Not to mention that it doesn't shines even in newer ones, at least for quality controls on their products, they haven't really a good production control i guess (even though some of their lenses are nice...on paper)

I have no experience with new ones just with old ones, thank you for your comment.

To give some more detail (hope my comment didn't seem to harsh) they have AF back and front issues (well, this shouldn't matter when talking about manual focus lenses), and some people talk about a quick degrade of the finishing (the grey coloured, peach-like Sigma finish...i don't like it all), and seems like there's a "trend" of bad copies, since many people also talk about a lack of sharpness in the corners while other don't... honestly, i won't buy a Sigma until they get a decent quality control.

However, talking about good quality glasses, lately i've heard about a Canon L lens which lost the front element...it simply felt apart while the photographer was taking a photo! lol Laughing
