I got an old "LA times" surplus lens for really cheap. It's a really ugly, high mileage lens but the optics still seem to be pretty good. The moon is all I've used this lens for. The surprise to me was how well the D90 worked to image it. I had used the mirror up option with my d200 but the d90 simply used with the self timer blows the d200 away. _________________ D800E, D700, D90, D50, F2, D100 (IR converted)

The best moon shot I have seen so far on this forum. (There probably have been some good ones in the past before I joined).
I guess focal length and a steady tripod are key issues. Have you tried with a TC? _________________ DSLR: Nikon D200, Pentax *istDL, Nikon D100 IR converted

Thanks for the comment. Sven, I used the 600mm AND a 301 (2x tc). _________________ D800E, D700, D90, D50, F2, D100 (IR converted)
