I checked and there is a new version out. 3.7

Linux
http://www.lightcrafts.com/SWdownloads/LightZone-3.7.tar.gz
Windows
http://www.lightcrafts.com/SWdownloads/LightZone-3.7-installer.exe
Mac
http://www.lightcrafts.com/SWdownloads/LightZone-3.7.dmg

Also Linux / Unix users who want to run trial forever just use this "script"

rm -fr /home/user/.java/.userPrefs/com/lighcrafts/license
/home/user/LightZone/./LightZone

line 1 removes license directory from lightcrafts directory (maker of LightZone) so it wont calculate the days when running it.
It doesn't delete preferences so they will be as you have them on every start.

line 2 runs the lightzone from users directory LigtZone (assuming LighZone was unpacked root of the users directory.

make a text file containing those lines and edit as you need (your username and directories ect.)

give it run permissions chmod +x text-file

then you can run it from terminal.
If you named the text-file lightzone you can run it typing
./lightzone and pressing enter or if you put the file in bin directory you can run it strait as other terminal commands or make an icon for it and run it from desktop however you like.

Ahmmm.... run a demo version forever? This would be kind of illegal, wouldn't it? Wink
So, better remove this section of your post.

Well this is not making any changes to the program Smile
You can always make new user on linux / unix machines and then run the software again so you will get those 30-days more.

That command just removes files from temp directory of the java system. Smile
It's not cracking but just a reset or a full reset if removing whole .java directory... I have removed whole .java directory sometimes because I have seen problems with java programs and being solved by removing all their temp and settings files.

Of course better to choose the program which have problems and delete just that Smile

So if you remove whole .java directory you will reset your java and will loose preferences for the programs / games using java.
Also LightZone will start will default settings and with 30-days to go.

But doing this what I mentioned on top or removing the directory everytime you run LightZone you will see a window saying you are running trial version... Even deleting that license directory.
You just press continue using trial and use it everytime you start it.

Well.. it's a matter of interpretation, I guess.
You don't alter the code of the program but as a matter of fact you use it outside its orignal purpose. I wouldn't like to hear what the programmer had to say to your explanation.
I would be angry if anybody used my photos without permission. Wink

My photos have been on a magazine without my permission Confused
Well without asking permission to use in the magazine Smile (not for making money)
But well I'm not even sure will it work after 30-days...
Some programs do work but they just calculate how many days have been going over 30-days so you will need to wait before continuing...
Winzip did that on windows.

Yes it's illegal to use things different way than the creator allowed.
Maybe I should read there trial user things if there is something about using it after 30-days if it works... Smile

My computer is from 2003, and LightZone works without any major problems. OTOH, I'm running the latest Ubuntu, which may make the difference (I've been linux based ever since kernel version 0.98, i.e., 1993 if I remember correctly.)

Windows XP with service pack 2 (32-bit or x64), or Windows Vista.
SSE2 support, which includes all Intel processors made after 2001 and all AMD processors
made after 2004
starting with the Athlon 64 CPUs with a minimum of 1GB of RAM."

CPUs without SSE2 implementation won't work.

Well computer from 2007 is not old... just about 2 years..
SSE2 is "old" thing (SSE3 going now) and all prosessors from Intel & AMD have been supporting it for years.
SSE2 supported prosessors:
AMD Athlon 64
AMD Athlon 64 X2
AMD Opteron
AMD Sempron (only Socket 754/939/AM2 -versions)
AMD Mobile Sempron
AMD Turion 64
Intel Pentium 4
Intel Pentium D
Intel Pentium Extreme Edition
Intel Pentium M
Intel Celeron (vain Socket 478 -versiot)
Intel Celeron D
Intel Celeron M
Intel Core Solo/Duo
Intel Core 2 Solo/Duo/Extreme
Transmeta Efficeon
Intel Xeon
Via C7

SSE3 came after SSE2 but LightZone doesn't seem to need it.

LightZone needs java to be installed so make sure it is installed and working well.

Installing new version of java might also help.

LightZone version 3.8 should come soon for linux but it isn't yet there.
Mac & Windows versions are there already.
