Coming to this site, and looking at the photos posted, have me rethink about manual focus lenses.

For the most part, I am a Minolta/Sony A mount user. So please whatever you recommend, I will have to be able to use it in A mount.

So far I only have two M42 lenses - Carl Zeiss Jena Sonnar 135mm and Zenitar 16mm fish which I also do not use that ofen because it is very difficult to focus through the DSLR viewfinder. I am in the process of getting a split focus screen Smile

Can you recommend some good M42 lenses above 135mm and also below 20mm? Most of the in between, I already have it covered with the AF lenses. Currently I refrain to purchase duplicate range unless the lens is pretty inexpensive but will produce extraodinary pictures. Some indication of availability and average market price are also much appreciated since I am fairly new to the world of manual lenses.

Basically you can't go wrong with any of them.

I prefer East German and Russian lenses.

My guess would be that Asahi Super-Takumar (or Super-Multi-Coated) 150mm and 200mm are quite good? Still trying to get a hold of them myself though Wink

Yes, indeed you can't go wrong with any of Takumars.

The 150 Tak is a very nice lens although a bit slow.

Any recommendation for the wide side (below 20mm)? Using a crop factor camera, wide is no longer wide.
