Unknown Schneider Variogon. To buy or not to buy

Okay. as i'm always having an interest in unusual lenses...

Today i can buy this one for 50 euros.

it's just another schneider kreuznach variogon.
but
25-125mm 1:1.7 with motor drive.
And it's massive!
like 40cm long.
and it's having a lens mount i have not seen before.

ofcourse i'm hoping it's a 35mm cine lens, not a projection lens. so i might have another nice adoption project.. but maybe it's not.

question is: to buy or not to buy.

Well, if you buy, THAT will be an adaptation!!!

It is no movie mount I've ever come across. And integral motor zooms are a video/TV or amateur camera thing only - motors (if any) on movie equipment are modular and external.

My guess is that it is a TV studio camera lens - not a truly interchangeable mount, but serviceable. TV studio cameras had at least 2/3" tubes, so that lens should cover an APS sensor, and even though the resolution might not be very spectacular as TV can't make use of more than 720lp/sensor width, it should be a very good performer where colour and contrast are concerned, and at 50 EUR it is a steal, even if you throw in the expenses for remounting it.

I decided not to buy at the moment. if made for 2/3" or 1" tubes it will not cover my sensor i guess, and back focus distance will be different.
it will be too bulky anyway, though i love it in a way.

too much trash already so today decided to get that nikkor 50/1.2 + 85/1.8 for 200 bucks. another steal...
