I have fixed several stuck aperture mechanisms.
The simplest thing is to remove the glass (may not be easy) and flood the diaphragm with lighter fluid. This must be allowed to dry for a few days, to make sure you don't start to get condensation on the glass when you reassemble it.
If that doesn't work, it may need complete disassembly and cleaning. Sometimes its just that some part may have jumped out of its slot or socket and needs to go back in. I had one where a retaining ring got loose and let all the blades leave their places. _________________ I like Pentax DSLR's, Exaktas, M42 bodies of all kinds, strange and cheap Japanese lenses, and am dabbling in medium format/Speed Graphic work. |
