Thanks John, that's very helpful. I knew about the I-50, that was the lens I had with this camera years ago and I want to get another one - the later I-50-2 I bought doesn't seem as good, compared with some of the old shots I took in the 60s.
Is there nothing wider than the Mir-1? _________________ Peter - Moderator |

The only one I can think of is the MIR 10A (28 mm). The "A" lenses have an interchangeable mount which resembles the outer part of a T2 adapter. So if you could find an M39-T2 adapter it might work. However don't take my word for it. I know that certain makes of M42-T2 adapters will work on the "A" lenses but others won't. _________________ John |

Hi Valjo, nothing's wrong. The first time you post a picture it doesn't show up at first. It's an anti-spam thing. The pictures are visible now and will be OK in future.
But can you please make sure your pictures are no wider than 900 pixels. If you want to show a larger picture please embed a link to it or put it in the Oversized Gallery. If it's difficult for you to resize them you can use the Upload Picture button, which does it for you. Thanks.
Welcome to MFL and thanks for your help about the lenses. I have a Helios 44-2, older than the one in your picture I think, but it's in M42 mount. _________________ Peter - Moderator |

http://www.rus-camera.com/lenses.php?lens=m39zenit + Helios 44 + Tair11A which comes with a extra M39 mount besides the M42 mount mounted on the lens. Maybe all other russian A mount lenses could be in this way mounted on the Zenit 3M lest's say. Thinking further maybe using half of T2 mount (the inner ring only) and the other half from a A mount (the one with the M39 screw), the T mount lenses could also be mounted. But that's just a guess. _________________ Canonet QL17 III

Welcome Tirza! Yep, that should work OK, just make sure you use the simple ring type M39/M42 adapter, without a flange, so that the back of the lens fits tightly against the face of the M42/Sony adapter. _________________ Peter - Moderator |

Peter, there also seem to be these lenses, but they are pretty rare:
- Zodiak-2M 3.5/15 Fisheye!
- MIR-47 2.5/20 (That's the one you want, Peter! )
- Kiev Shift 2.8/35
- Volna-9 2.8/50 Macro
- Helios-107M 2.8/65 (!)
- Vega-14A 2.8/100
- TAIR-38ts 4.0/133
- Telemar-22 5.6/200
- ZM-5A 8/500
- ZM-6A 6.3/500
- Granit-11A 4.5/80-200
and almost all the mirror lenses can be mounted on this M39 Zenit.

Thanks Cosmin, that's useful. I'd forgotten about A-mount. The only one I have at present is the Jup-37A but I don't have the M39 part. Are these available separately? And do you know of any wider lenses for M39 beyond the Mir-1? _________________ Peter - Moderator |
