FD rear cap jammed

I have an FD lens that originally had a properly working rear cap, but now it appears to have jammed in the rear. Is there a good non-destructive way to remove the cap? I've tried turning it anticlockwise, and pushing in while doing it, but to no avail.

Old or new fd-mount? Is the arrow in the lens cap in the same place as the "red spot" on the lens? Or is the cap 1/3 off? I think you should try to PULL the cap instead of pushing, then the notch which is in the same place as the "red spot" may get some room?

Hmm...well I somehow managed to get it off by twisting anyway. How odd. It was a lot tighter when I tried earlier in the day.
