"Micro Four Thirds" Panasonic Lumix DMC-G1
Small cam with exchangable lenses. Perhaps a chance to mount almost any manual lens!
They say register distance is only 20mm. That would include a possibilty to use rangefinder lenses! _________________ Personal forum activity on pause every now and again (due to job obligations)!

Carsten, I am very interested in the micro-4/3rds system! I'm waiting to
see Olympus's version and hope they stick to the proposed style that looks
like a Japanese rangefinder (but isn't, of course).
I'm hoping that the system will support the old OM lenses and I can perhaps
use Konica's Hexanon lenses on it as well. |

oversized picture taken down, is erroneous, anyway.
There's some others, still haven't found them.

Perfect match for the tiny OM lenses.
I can see why you like it Bill firshir.
I hope it's priced nice. _________________ Moderator |

It will probably be a little less than nice being the first run of
a new design. But coolness factor definitely trumps Panasonic's G1 if this is
indeed the design Olympus will do for the body. The other pics I'm looking
for have the Oly version looking something like a Trip 35. |

I believe Samsung is also developing a micro four/third's camera. this technology could put rangefinders back on the map and give Leica a run for its 5,000 price tag. _________________ Fish-Eye -- Fish-Eye-Takumar 1:11/18

I wonder if Samsung's design will have the register distance at 20mm, too.
The Oly/Panasonic design will allow virtually any lens including rangefinder
lenses to be used via adapter. The versatility will be incredible. |

cant say, it isnt slated to be released until 2010. I wouldnt expect the samsung camera to be too much like a rangefinder, as it is supposed to feature a live view LCD and an EVF but it will have a larger sensor than the others, well see I guess. _________________ Fish-Eye -- Fish-Eye-Takumar 1:11/18

Yep, I noticed that, too, but am used to using only the LCD with my Canon
Powershots, it's doable. Besides, I thought they might be offering shoe
mount VFs for this. |

Pansonic G1 is priced around US$800 in Japan,
it includes a normal range zoom lens. 20mmF1.7 is an extra!
I am expecting Leica-M to m4/3 (micro four thirds) adapter,
Panasonic announced they will make one q while ago. Oly will
do the same, I hope. _________________ Our Home Page has 18,200 photos in 575 directories today.
