Not a fair or really logical comparision but I'll buy the 80-200/2.8 and will give a nice amount of money. After spending something like 300USD, it'll be hard to buy the 500/8 with another 200-250USD the same day. So is there a chance of zoom+tele conv. combo compete with the 500/8 at any aperture?

I need fast answer until evening Smile I'm in a hurry cause if I buy them, I will buy them both and make the shipment to USA address (customs will be problem otherwise) and my friend will make the shipment without shipment and customs expenses.

I don't like much TC but some of them can be good, problem only quality items rare going cheaply.

Why should all Adaptall-2 SP lenses with Nikon mount end with really high prices. 500/8 = $232.50 and the 80-200/2.8=US $265.09 (to be honest I was expecting the price to increase at the end but was stable for the last 30mins).

Anyways I'm buying the 80-200/2.8 from another seller for 295$ as it's in perfect condition not pricey if we consider the focal length it covers and speed and of course the optical quality. After seeing the 2$ sun zoom performance it makes me a bit blush Embarassed but I have been dreaming of this lens for a long time (it generally goes between 250-300USD) and I've lost 3 times ans want one as I've the chance of ommitting the international shipment and customs costs (my friend will move to Turkey at the end of the October). Modern slow AF version costs 650USD so it sounds a good buy to me Smile With my 5D the combo will weight like 2.4kg and I guess this is a bit heavy for being everyday combo Smile

I'm still not sure if I must pay an additional 200USD for the 500/8 but I guess I will opt for an SP 30-80 and SP 2X tele converter for now. 400/5.6 would be enough for now and if the light allows I can stop down.
