I was positively surprised by this little cam (as you can see):

Really? The film had expired in 2006, but I don't think it's too bad... _________________ Personal forum activity on pause every now and again (due to job obligations)!

Very nice, but I think the Electro shots are a little better than these. After using the Y-M124G I'm becoming more and more impressed with Yashinon lenses. _________________ Peter - Moderator |

Agree with Peter and Attila here
The film looks plasticy
Hard to judge the camera beyond that
My guess is it is not as good as the Electro GS in IQ or exposure by a long shot _________________ Moderator |

No, it surely plays in another league than the Electro 35!
The weight slone shows that.
Ricoh 500RF - 380g (lens: 2.8/40)
Minolta Hi-Matic F - 390g (lens: 2.7/38 )
Olympus 35RC - 450g (lens: 2.8/42)
Minolta Hi-Matic E (lens: 1.7/40) and Yashica Electro 35 GS (lens: 1.7/45) - either one more than 500g (my office scale stops at 500g ) _________________ Personal forum activity on pause every now and again (due to job obligations)!

It looks the same as my Ricoh 500G, which does give excellent results. Mine has the Rikenon f2.8 40mm lens.
A very handy compact as it does have full M settings as well as auto.
I also have the Hi Matic F which I don't rate much and the Hi-matic 7s as the Vivitar 35ES clone, thats OK but the Ricoh 500G is much better.
The above have been well used in the past, maybe I will put a film in the Ricoh? _________________ Pentax K10D & K100D. Many Tamron Adaptall SP lenses, Fujinon f4.5 400mm. A loved Lens Baby 2, Lubitel triplet +++ and many film cameras. Mainly a Digital user inc G5, GR2

My Hi-Matic F was my first rangefinder cam. At that time I loved the results (and I still think it's pretty good) but when I got the Oly 35RC, I saw that there are better cams.
The Ricoh 500RF is perhaps somewhere in between. The Hi-Matic E and definitely the Electro 35 GS are even better.
A ranking of my fixed lens rangefinder cams?
1. Yashica Electro 35 GS
2. Minolta Hi-Matic E
3. Olympus 35 RC
4. Ricoh 500RF
5. Minolta Hi-Matic F (but this one feels more solid than the Ricoh!) _________________ Personal forum activity on pause every now and again (due to job obligations)!

Hi Carsten!
Fine results, the camera seems very promising.
I like the results, specially the landscape at #4, very natural colours, maybe not enough saturated as the other colleagues said.

I forgaot to mention I also have the Rollei XF 35 rangefinder which is fitted with the f2.3 Sonnar lens.
Very poor build quality and fully auto ONLY so not my Fav camera but that lens is nice.
I would be open to a decent offer for it! _________________ Pentax K10D & K100D. Many Tamron Adaptall SP lenses, Fujinon f4.5 400mm. A loved Lens Baby 2, Lubitel triplet +++ and many film cameras. Mainly a Digital user inc G5, GR2
