Certosport 6x9 folding camera with exchangeable lenses

Several weeks ago I obtained on the local internet marketplace the half of sack (literally – half of sack) of the different photo items. For $19, and the free mail service (there was the action).

Everything was heavily molded, and a lot of useless junk (however one Moskow-4 camera in quite decent condition). But the main jewel of that pack was Certosport plate 6x9 folding camera, with two exchangeable lenses with the bayonet adapters in dedicated metal cases, dedicated leather case from the same produces as the camera itself, and two adapters for 6x9 120 roll film, and lot of filters, and some other useful additions.

There were two Lenses:

1) Prewar DOGMAR 6.3/165mm in the old fashioned Compur shutter.

2) 75mm noname uncoated lens from 20-th, with rather primitive shutter.

Compur shutter generally worked well. But needed to be serviced for the slow speeds. For which I sent it to the professional repair master. Who did the good job, and completely renovated it for $15. Optic I serviced myself with the very good results.

The second lens I decided to exchange completely. I took it from the bayonet adapter (simply tearing it out). To discover that there is 23mm opening. But the little shutters which I have are both in 25mm.

So I had to discover professional worker who would enlarge the opening.

In addition I requested him to make for me also the copy of adapter with 32,5mm opening, for the standard 105mm lens shutter (I have tons of them of the different kind). The general price was (with copy of adapter) $4.88.

The little shutters, which I have, heavily needed service. So, I had to learn how to clean up the mechanical shutter (using WD-40), and later to oil it properly.

One of them was Compur, taken from the dead prewar TLR, and second one is Prontor S, which I finally decided to use, because it dedicates perfectly for Schneider’s Componar 75/4.5 from 70th, that I put into the business.

To renovate camera and film adapters I used first antiseptic, then WD-40 for general cleaning, then to bath it in gasoline, and finally used castor oil (for the leather bellows). Now the camera is in the quite decent condition.

I checked today 75mm Componar on the camera. Looks like at 8-11 diaphragms it should cower full frame without any problem.
