I have just asked Seller one or two questions about this set.

Can anyone see what it is?

It looks interesting.

Yes, this is the Foto-Snaiper version 12 - FS-12, with Zenit 12S body, a Helios 44-M-4 2/58 standard lens and a Tair 3AS 4.5/300 tele. I'd love one of these!

So if is all in perfect shape I will try to make the Seller a offer Very Happy

Anybody have a idea about what the price would be on eBay?

PostPosted: Sat Aug 11, 2007 12:51 pm    Post subject: Reply with quote

I found in my db 30GBP and 52 EUR. Mine was ~60 EUR.

Not easy to sell on Ebay, because heavy, so generally going for very low price.

Yes u have to add shipping cost Evil or Very Mad when buing on eBay. Quess that would be another 60€ or so.

I think I would like to spend 100€ and try to get this one. Would that be insane or....?

Don't buy for this cost , buy instead a Nikkor 300mm f4.5 AI or a Tamron Sp 60-300 or Tamron SP 300mm f5.6.

What kind of camera do you have ?

I have a Sony A100.

So far I have been having MF-fun using M42 lenses. I have a pretty good Minolta AF 75-300mm zomm (the big beercan) so it is not because I need it - but this kit kind of fascinates me.

The Minolta:

AF no problem at all, I also liked my Sigma 70-300mm APO DG, but after i have a CZJ Sonnar 300mm f4 and Tamron SP 300mm f5.6 I never want to shoot again with Sigma. These are great pictures!

There's an identical set for sale on Ebay in Ukraine for ?84.99 BIN, which I think is only about 850 Danish Kr, but the postage cost to UK is another ?35, so it's about the same price as your one in Denmark. For me this is too expensive, as I'd only want to use the Tair lens and the rifle stock.

I also have (some where) this Sigma lens. Once I tried Takumar 135mm f3.5, I never touched that. All look good on web and 5x7, but the reality is in comparison... Once I touched Vivitar 200mm f3.5, it was the end of crappy paperweights...

Yes, I like pretty much too my Vivitar 200mm f3.5 lens.

I paid ?10 for mine a couple of years ago. Fairly sharp lens but very heavy and bulky with bad focus control. I hardly ever use it. OK if real cheap. The whole kit cost less than ?100 new.

I sold mine a few weeks ago for around 80 Euros. Sad, because it is a beautiful and sharp lens - but on the other hand focusing is painful. You don't shoot architecture with 300mm. And every other object moves to fast to get it in focus in time. So this is only usefull for a glass cabinet...

Hi!

I paid Euro 30,- for the complete set in great condition about a year and a half ago.
I might have paid more, but I didn't need to. I was lucky that day.

Actually, I like the performance of lens a lot, it produces very nice pictures (my lens has no CAs whatsoever), but as Rob and Michael already have pointed out, it is really heavy and rather a nuisance to use. Thus I rarely use it, so from my experience, I would not pay Euro 100,-, I'm afraid.
(But I can understand the fascination it evokes...)

Thank you all for the help.

I still am fascinated by this kit, but the Seller is asking to much. Guess I just have to keep looking Very Happy
