This lens is from the West German Zeiss Line, I mean. There must be a connection with Voigtlander, I am searching for more information about this lens.

I find this side about Voigtlander:

Very good. Congratulations for the pict, the lens and camera too Smile

I think it is M42, being mounted on a Pentax Wink

By the way, this lens was used on the Icarex and SL 706 http://www.camerapedia.org/wiki/Icarex (see why has the name Ultron) http://www.cameraguild.jp/voigtlander/icarex/sl706.htm and the Voig. http://www.camerapedia.org/wiki/Voigtl%C3%A4nder_VSL .

Thank you all - yes, it is a M42 - Lens

It is the top of my collection.

The sensor isn´t fine enought, to find out the limits, the comparsion with the Pentax SMC FA 50mm/1,4 is without output, the pictures are quite the same.

I am searching for the history of IKON - Zeiss Lenses. Is there an web-side?

regards Peter

Congratulation, out of curiosity, how much did you get it for?

I have been bidding on similar lens whenever it pop-up on the bay, but I am too much of a cheapskate to win Smile These lens usually sells with a camera and I have too many cameras that were bundles and never get used.

From the pictures of it and from it, it's a keeper lens.

the price 216,70€ on ebay - It was a must lens - about 1970 - like me

so, I save my money now and go outside to use the lenses - I am happy with this passion and I thank you all for the good mood in this forum.

I won this lens in combination with a Zeiss IKON skoparex 35mm/3,5 about 100€ - the Voigtlander-Line
The Ultron is superb, the Skoparex - I don´t know - perhaps 100€ is to much for it.
But I am crazy sometimes -

I will show Pictures of both in all situations

regards Peter

I think the VL Skoparex is a re-release of the Contarex lens. It should be good, but in any case, it's an interesting lens to have in a collection.

I'd say it's acceptable wide open, good from f/2 and top at f/4

Quicktest in Office - i can´t see any difference by 100% size
the ultron seems a little bit better

ULTRON 4,5m f5,6 distance:

PENTAX SMC FA 50/1,4 f5,6 4,5m distance

The Ultron 1,8 50 mm.

If I m not wrong, the Icarex was make as massive camera by Zeiss, while the professional line was the Contarex.

The contarex had a normal planar 50/2 with 6 in 4.

The Icarex had a tessar, panthar and a Ultron with 7 in 5 (first konkave)

And the planar for the rolleiflex SL and the aftermade Planar C/Y have 7 elements and the first not so konkave as the icarex, but have similar shame than this, not as the planar of the contarex.

The ultron of Icarex was better than the planar of Contarex?

Perhaps, isn't it?

Contarex line also had a 1.4/55 Planar, which migrated to Voigtlaender in form of 1.4/55 Ultron - it's the same lens design

No, it was the same lens. The only difference could be in build quality, as Contarex lenses were produced in Oberkochen, while Icarex lenses (especially those marked Voigtlaender) were produced part in Oberkochen with Zeiss brand (like the Tessar I own), part in Germany somewhere without Zeiss brand (for whatever reason), part in Singhapour by Mamiya facility (if I remember correctly).
