It Still Moves by My Morning Jacket is definitely one of the best rock albums:

That is interesting. Most of the Tull-Fans I know think that "Broadsword..." is one of their weaker albums, but I think - and you seem to agree - that it is one of their best ones.

I think it has to do with tastes Carsten, if you're into the more medieval feeling stuff then you tend to love Broadsword, along with Minstrel in the Gallery and Songs from the Wood. I also love Chris deBurgh and many of the older story telling songs.
The one title I forgot was Stormwatch and another critically weak album Catfish Rising. I thought I got a dud when I bought Roots to Branches - it grew on me.
Though its all nothing like seeing Ian Anderson and rest, LIVE! The 3 of us did it a couple years ago when it was in support of the release of Aqualung Live, at Massey Hall in Toronto ( a great old house). We got a free copy of the disc with admission from the radio station Q107. You could feel the music through the place and being in a balcony you became immersed in the sensations, Very Happy Very Happy Smile Very Happy Very Happy

Jim

Yes, all their albums are great, but "Broadsword..." is my fav.
I ahd the chance to see Tull live - absolutely amazing.
BTW, if you also like this "medieaval stuff", you should listen to "Blackmore's Night" (yep, that's Richie Blackmore).

And I have to add STING of course. How could I forget him? He's one of my all-time favourites! I like his jazzy pop music and I just LOVE his "Songs from Labyrinth"!

Well, the records I've bought for my birthday should give everyone an idea of my 3 favorite classic rock bands:

Jimi Hendrix - Essential Jimi Hendrix vol. 2 (beat up sleeve but cheap)
Jimi Hendrix - Nine to the Universe
Jimi Hendrix - (No title...earliest recordings)
Pink Floyd - The Wall (better sleeve...no yellowing/ring wear...so I have a "playable" copy and a "good" copy)
Led Zeppelin - II
Steve Miller Band - Fly Like an Eagle

And right now, I'm listening to one of the best 80s bands (they had lots of hits, after all Laughing )...the Scorpions.

Poolhall, you're probably the only other guy on the planet I've heard that
likes Dylan's "Desire" album. I've loaned the LP to friends in the 70's and
CD to friends in the 90's but none had the "Desire" to record it or buy it
for themselves! Personally, I love the album! The one Dylan album that
takes me back to the mountain bars of northern Idaho is "John Wesley
Harding" just love "Drifter's Escape", "I am a Lonesome Hobo", "Down Along
the Cove", etc.

Don't forget Dylan's "Nashville Skyline"...That's my favorite of his...(It's the one with "Lay, Lady Lay".).

Dann, yes, I agree, one of his best.

Did anybody mention Van Morrison? Astral Weeks, Poetic Champions Compose (love the first track, "Spanish Steps" a slow jazz tune where he
plays alto sax), Moondance, Best of, and Avalon Sunset. Plus the one he
did with the Irish Chieftains, one of my faves.

Dylan's "Blood on the Tracks" is a definite fave as well.

I've never heard of any of these! Embarassed
Maybe I'm getting old and sticky. (Or maybe I spend too much time practising and playing music, and not enough listening.).

There is a lot of music listed that I had never even heard of, but I am sure I will look into a couple of them. Opens you up to new areas of music.

I like all types of music (with country being my least favorite). I really like heavy metal, always have and probably always will. I just started taking guitar lessons (never played before in my life), so I think I am going to start listening to music that is heavy on the guitar

Yes, I've heard of them of course, but I wouldn't be able to name any songs they sing. But he didn't say CCR and I wasn't sure he meant them - somehow I imagined it was spelt "Credence". Thanks for the link though!
