The Tamron SP 70-210 is SUCH a nice lens, both for sharpness and more important (to me) for true color and lack of flare.

Coca Cola
Tamron SP 70-210 @ 200mm

Full Size Unsharpened (cropped and re-sized))

Coca Cola 2
Tamron SP 70-210 @ 80mm

Colors look great on my monitor, Larry! I still have to find this lens.

Better so, to carry a 860g lemon would not be a smart idea!

Great samples - mine's almost as good as my Nikkor 80-200 ED 2.8 which is pretty god company!

It's one of my favourite zooms - I was happy enough with the 103A for years, but the SP version knocked my socks off. Made all the more sweeter by the price.

Excellent samples!

My copy also captures wonderful colors.

Nice, Larry.
I was thinking: if you go back to that place, and place your camera so that it aligns perfectly the lamp with the Coca Cola round logo, and set the smallest available aperture, you will give the illusion that the lamp glass holds the Coca sign.

That was my first impression too. The sign looks like a big red lamp globe.

I concur with you guys, the Tamron is one of the better zooms out there! Not like a prime, but awfully close! Definitely a keeper.

Regarding the Coca-Cola sign: This is truly an OLD Coca Cola fixture. The owner of the building had it STOLEN from him some years ago, but it was recovered!

The little town where this guy lives is Pysht, Washington! How's THAT for a name! Population is about 50 people, give or take. It is on the way to Shi Shi Beach and Makah, out on the northwest tip of Washington. I don't get there much, but next time I WILL line up the lamp fixture and the sign! Very Happy
