I found a unique lens today-presenting the Yashinon 50mm f2.8.

Images taken @f2.8

little break in the down power.

Nice results Smile. Interesting saturation and color rendition.

The lens is maybe not unique but quite old, belonging to the first batch of Yashica's M42 lenses.

Actually 602699 is the new "lowest" recorded s/n Smile

Question: May I use your pictures of the lens as such on Yashica.org?

I am no product photographer, but here are rough snaps of my 5cm F 2.8 Yashinon:

As you can see, the previous owner(s) ding the filter ring above the F 2.8 marking of the lens, but it does not effect optical performance (that I can see anyway)

This is my 35/2.8 Super Yashinon-R for Yashica Pentamatic bayonet(not C/Y)
It's focus ring is the smoothest I've used.
I still have to figure out an adapter for it, Minolta AF is the closest I've found, but I can't do much till my NEX 7 arrives.
Anyways, a couple pics of the lens.

They look identical, same time era- that Pentamatic almost looks like it will unscrew to reveal a M42 underneath? Wishful thinking. Very Happy

I have the 3.5cm Yashinon-R lens in M42...it seems to be exactly the same, but with a chrome aperture ring.

Yes, wishful thinking.
I'm about to look at a Pentamatic with a 5.5cm/1.8, and a 50/2 ML(y/c)

Waiting for a Yashinon 5cm f/2.8 to arrive, my 2nd lens of the year after my Rokkor MC 100/3.5 Macro.
https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/MmcAAOSwRctdh9WG/s-l1600.jpg

It will be going with my 3.5cm f/2.8 and 10cm f/2.8 Yashinon Tominons

I've also been watching for the 5.5cm f/1.8 Pentamatic, they usually want more than I want to pay same with the 5cm f/2.8

I don't get it....how did you adapt em to Minolta af?

PostPosted: Sat Oct 12, 2019 10:40 pm    Post subject: Reply with quote

I modified the adapter to mount Yashica's Pentamatic mount.
Very little modification is needed to reach infinity,
I used 500-800 grit wet/dry sandpaper on glass,
and sanded the mount surface till the lens mounted,
then removed the mount and did the same to the body till it reached infinity.

Wow ,that's interesting indeed , those are some beautiful lenses you got , they seem like very high build quality, hard to compare with late 70's lenses ,when plastic started in almost all of the lenses

Thanks, they're as well built as any lens I've come across, truly a joy to use, I wish there were more lenses like them.
