I found a new better Fujinon 43-75mm zoom to replace my old one. Compared it to my Yashica 42-75mm, and it was slightly worse in every aspect. That's why choose the Yashica for a walk in the forest. Zoom and focus is very smooth, sharpness across the field is respectable for a zoom, better than some old primes. Drawbacks for the Fujinon is worse edge sharpness and less smooth controls.

The only real drawback is the 1.2m minimum focus distance. But you can't have it all
There are many good choices for closer focus! |

Yes I'd recommend 400 film to be on the safe side.
