Hi everybody!
Yesterday night I spent some hours cleaning the Lynx and taking out the old seals and replacing by some new ones. It took me some time to cleanup the rails from the old seal, but I finally ended with an almost clean base.
The Lynx has five seals, two on the rails and three more on the door and in the cover hinge.
Some pics:
#1, the "lab" bench. (Don't forget I live in a small flat). Notice the green glasses with magnifier lenses hanging at the top right. The only way to be able to see inside the rails...
#2
Once the old seals removed
#3
There was a seal also inside the lock grooming, difficult to take out
#4
Clean rails, the counter reset lever could not be seen before due to the degraded seals
#5
Putting the new non adhesive seal inside the rails
#6
Some metal polishing and voil?, a brand new camera
A big thanks to Andy to give me the opportunity to learn a lot about these magnificent cameras and to try this one.
Now it's the time to put a roll in and go out to shot whatever target is moving... With 1/1000 of max shutter speed, a lens of 1.8 and a roll of Fuji SUPERIA 200 there are lots of possibilities...
Best regards,

Hi Jes
Very nice tutorial. The Yashica really look new. Nice mechanic.
The Caplio make a good job.
Do you prefer it for deep of field for this kind of photo
How is the image quality of 80 iso compared to your 350D _________________ Have a nice day

Bonjour Poilu!
Thanks, I'll be trying it these days, unfortunately today is a gray rainy day here...
Yes, I love the Caplio. For such close views it's outstanding with its 24mm focal length. To me. quality is similar to the Canon, probably a little less noisy at higher ISOs. I'll try to do the same shots with both, to compare...
Best regards,

Great series Jes. I now think of you as the "Grey's anatomy" of manual cameras!
(just kidding)

Ok if you do no confuse me with the Dr. House of the cameras....
But I'm just a newcomer to this funny world, f16sunshine it's a real expert on this.
Best regards,

Hi Jes
The camera looks great. Don't forget this really great trick from Rick Olesons site. This is one that Carsten brought up a couple months back. I tried this on a Konica S1.6 that has not much contrast left in the rangefinder "window". This trick works great. One thing that I did was to put the little black spot on the inside of the rangefinder window. It is very easy to remove the top to clean the rangefinder inside. By putting the extra dark spot on the inner glass. Now I can clean the outer glass from fingerprints etc.., without mucking up the little piece of black tape. Enjoy the Lynx I think you will find it a fine performer. best regards Andy

Hi Andy!
Thanks for the trick. Now I'm shooting the first roll, (I was excited on trying it), and next step will be dissaembling the top to clean up the viewfinder and trying to fix the battery problem just to have a rough indication on lighting to match the f16sunshine rule
I've also thought in replacing the two small exposure bulbs by two miniature LEDs.. Just a thought by now until I see the innards of the camera.
I'm also working on the electro 35. I'm trying to build a battery adaptor for it, based on the 4SR44 battery.
More to come.
Andy, thanks again for everything.
Best regards.
