Wow, that's a very impressive lens. I am amazed at the wide open aperture. I thought that kind of sharpness wide open was for Sonnar only Laughing

Which Yashica M42 is this - DX, DS, DS-M? Reason I ask, this looks way better than my DX 135/2.8.

Who made the other version Attila? Mine has no C and is very solidly built. Has the hallmarks of a good lens, maybe I should try it out again.

Perhaps Tokina, before ML many Yahicas made by Tomioka. Koji know exactly the makers.

Tomioka seldom (maybe never) made long or zoom lenses, according to
the Yashica expert among my friends. All those ML lenses beyond 100mm
were made by Tokina, this is what my friend said.

DS-M lenses are rare, cannot find them easily. So do not sell it whoever
makes it.

Yes, the lenses with C mark on were made by Cosina. They are normally
cheaply made, possibly optically inferior too (this is not confirmed Sad ).

koji,
What about my Yashicor 135mm F2.8 in M42, Tokina made?

Hi Scott,

I really do not know the exact origin. My friend says

YASHINON made in TOMIOKA (in Nagano prefecture) factory
YASHICOR made in OKAYA (currently Kyocera factory in Kyoto) factory

but this information is not confirmed.

Didn't Yashicor predate Yashinon in lens naming ? In TLR's that was the case...

Scott, I posted links to this in the Gallery, 1975 Pop Photo pages...

In the Nationwide Camera ad, I see both Yashinon and YashiKor lenses listed.

The Yahshinon 135/2.8 goes for $89.95 and the Yashikor for $68.95.

Of course this doesn't clear up who made what, but it does indicate that in 1975 both lines were being sold.
