I would like to see your opinion why we should shoot on film even if so many great digital bodies are available.

The fact that you can get various PS actions to (try and) emulate films like Velvia may say more about the end users than digital photography itself.

Cosmin and Iha street shoots also. Film has a different (gritty and more pained) emotion. I guess you can make this in PS but not the same. Especially with Monochromes.

@ Attila:

No, because I'm still stuck in the dark ages with PS Elements 2 which doesn't support actions or 16 bit for that matter.... Laughing

Everything digital I've ever posted here has been 8 bit. Embarassed

As an amateur, i just do what is fun for me. I do both digital and film, but my digital cam is no DSLR, it is a "bridge". When i got this digicam, i suddenly discovered the joy of photographic work and rediscovered film cameras.
Film is more forgiving, less blow out in the highlights.
I like the delay between taking the shot and see what you get. It is sort of a nice tension.
Film delivers a real product, a negative or slide, which you can see and grab with your fingers and do what you want with it. Not only digits....
Different film material gives different feel to the images.
Full frame chemical sensor for my budget.
Nice big viewfinder with split screen in my Yashica SLR for my myopic eyes. Do I find that in DSLR? How much do I pay for that?
When shooting film, i am more thoughtful of what am i doing. Not always.....but mostly.

Gerd

Easier to shoot on film than make pain with conversions that for sure.

I mainly agree with F16SUNSHINE. In B&W there's still no way to digitally emulate film getting the same results.

There are a lot of tech explainations but basically it's a different medium and you have transitions in colors and tones that are very different and in B&W this is dramatically evident.
