That shot was taken with a Sigma AF 17-70 DC modern AF standard crop zoom lens.
But as we have learned, close-ups do not show the true bokeh performance.
I will try and shoot a "bokeh shot" with this lens in the next days, because even if it is not an MF lens (and neither a prime), it has a great bokeh.

That's awesome. Thanks for sharing.

I much prefer background that's silky smooth and doesn't detract from the main subject at all; like this from the Tamron SP60-300...

You would not believe how much crap there was in the background of this shot and the bokeh has just whisked it away.

The Steinheil München Quinar 2.8/135 has a certain appeal to me when it comes to fanciable bokeh...

Hi Mal1905.

Excelent pics. Your five elemnts quinar is superb.

Which quinar do you have? Chrome? Zebra? The "D" in red one?

It's equal (or better) than my CZJ 3,5.

You need a long tele for that. Most long teles are good enough for that.

And empty space in background.

In my opinion, one of the less discussed but most important aspects of bokeh is not really in how the background is rendered, but in how the _transition_ happens from foreground to background. Some lenses do it magic, some others don't.

1- Leica M.

Especially summaron 35, summicrons 35 and 50 (the first version), summilux 50 and 75, Elmar 135.

2- Voigtlander

Dynarex 4,8/100

CZJ

Pancolar 1,8/50.
Sonnar 3,5/135.

I don't remember more now.

My personal favourite is the Olympus OM 50mm f1.2, which I shoot almost exclusively at f2

I know that this is "macro" bokeh but I can not do anything better due to exacta mount lens on my Pentax. But this photo is a proof for me that slightly off focus work sometimes better compare to razor sharp details.

Angenieux 1.8/90 @1.8

For my quite impressive is Nikkor 85mm 1.8 and mir-24-n

So how do you rate the Angenieux 90mm Voytek? It is one of the lenses that is on my perennial wish list.

PostPosted: Sun Apr 12, 2009 1:42 pm    Post subject: Reply with quote

Regarding market value - this is my most expensive lens.
Regarding performance - I can not answer yet. To early.
I have 3 Angenieux lenses, 3.5/135, 2.5/35 and one above.
All are amazing performers. There is something very special in those lens. Color first of all. No other lens gives you such pastel colors. If you set WB proper way - there is nothing to do with PP, picture is sharp and soft the same time. This lens develops something special. Sometimes RAW looks like oversaturated during PP. It is very hard to give exact description. They are different compare to Zeiss, Leitz. I have number of good lenses. Those 3 are my top lenses in my own, private rating. But there is always something different in this what you don't have. Sometimes better. Sorry Orio, I can not give you answer, I am still not enough experienced. I am good in searching, winning auctions but regarding photography - I am the beginner, rookie.

I don't know yet, but I will post when will receive it. I believe that this M42, other lenses from this lot look like M42 but just in case I have already Uni M42 mount. I bought several different Komuras earlier, will figure out how to use new lens

They are of the middle or end of 60's.

I think that I read in 1966/9 magazine about this line.

Glass and metal and quality? I think that yes.

Looking at other Komuras, my answer is YES
