I guess it was cheap (220€ new in box from a 100% ebay seller) because of the unfortunate combination of A-mount and cinema version of the lens. |

Please comment on this one when you have an opportunity to do so. It is cheap and has widespread bad reputation compared to the standard of Tamron lenses and in particular the 24mm.
But I do not understand how Tamron could have failed to design a proper 28 when they succeeded with so much more difficult lenses. So your opinion will be valued. _________________ Lumens Pixel

I am hoping it will have smooth sailing in customs. It looks a bit like the new mirrorless primes by tamron with it's small front element.

I have to say those new Tamron budget wide angles are pretty cool. And they are very decent performers apparently (if you can live with strong barrel distortion of the 20mm). |

In my experience with Sony 7RIII, 7RIV and A1, when you use f/2 or wide and medium distance with manual focus you will have a bit sharper image, not matter which point of focus you use. |

It´s difficult to focus on the Sony. Dug out my old Autoreflex TC, it´s difficult to focus on that one, too. That lens is not easy-going, it´s frustrating any ambition just to don it on and shoot good images. I´m very impressed by the deep field it creates though. There´s a big difference between 24mm and 21. _________________ Cheers, Gerhard |

Why is it difficult to focus? Because of its small aperture? |

Through to viewfinder everything looks in focus with such a lens. I rely in the distance scale or for critical focus wide open I zoom in to 100% or more. With low light it is more difficult because of al the noise. Lenses that are soft wide open can also be hard to focus, even zoomed in. _________________ pentaxian |
